Joseph Hoang, 2026.

Lora Mathis (she/they) is a poet and interdisciplinary artist who grew up between Southern California and Québec.

They work across poetry, installation, painting, photography, sound, and collaboration, building a world that continues across mediums. Their practice explores memory as excavation and the ways time transforms people, sites, and relationships. They are interested in intimacy, decay, and the strange worlds we make with one another.

Mathis is the author of The Snakes Came Back (Metatron Press, 2023) and The Women Widowed to Themselves (Where Are You Press, 2015; Party Trick Press, 2021), as well as chapbooks and artist books.

Mathis lives in Southern California, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Poetry.
